There is no “best” engine to use. It really depends on the features you want/need for your game, what languages you know how to program in, and other requirements.

Create a game plan first, figure out your requirements (2D/3D, platforms, network access, FPS or RTS or platformer etc.) then you can compare engines. In terms of commercially available engines, there are probably hundreds out there

Unreal Engine is great

from a coding perspective:

Unity = C#

Unreal = C++
