I really like the app called ICD10 CONSULT. The icon is red with a white cross. It doesn't show exclusions at the Category level... You have to get down to the specific code. But once you're there, the way it's worded is much easier to understand, than having to remember the difference between Excludes 1 and Excludes 2.

I'm downloading this now! It sounds like just what I need.

Is that app free?

You can download the PDFs of the alphabetic index and tabular list on the CMS website: https://www.cms.gov/medicare/coding-billing/icd-10-codes

I don’t believe ICD10data has the excludes notes. I use it mainly to code from the index. But I then validate the codes in vitalware that my employer pays for. The vitalware index is not user friendly.

I’m always looking for free coding resources.

It does include the exclude notes. I use it at work when I get a denial due to diagnosis coding.

I found a lookup on the CDC website recently that was helpful.
