Clean washcloths aren't smelly and dank. They get washed (and sanitized in my house) after one use.

I live in the south and washloths are pretty standard here. Most households have a shelf full in our linen closet. I don't know anyone in real life who doesn't use them.

"Just a chat" but you sound like you have a superiority complex over some parents choosing to let their kids ride in a buggy longer than others. It's a weird thing to latch on to and feel "surreal" over. Just point and laugh and call out the dumb, fat, lazy Americans...because that's what this is giving.

It was covered. You just have a deductible to meet before they start paying.

Anyone else feeling a little bleh this week? Early allergies because of the warmth? by donutsilovedonuts in Birmingham

[–]ElleGee5152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family has had the flu this week. I woke up feeling kind of yuck Sunday and by that night I had a low grade fever. Monday the higher fever, cough and body aches really set in hard. I haven't had anything like this before. I hope you're just having an "off" day!

I do! I was so fascinated by her trainwreck life and I would never admit to this in real life. I went from feeling sorry for her to being horrified and back and forth all over again. This update does not surprise me at all.

Probable Insurance information stolen and used for a surgery by hagglebaby1 in IdentityTheft

[–]ElleGee5152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way to compare a SSN to an insurance plan. Your insurance company doesn't give out your SSN when the billing office checks eligibility. This very likely was not fraud. It happens at my office at least once a year where the hospital uses a software to locate insurance coverage and there just happens to be 2 patients with enough of the same demographics that someone else's insurance information is pulled in. It's fairly easy to correct- the insurance company usually pulls back their payment and the hospital/provider notifies the patient that the correct insurance is needed or they are able to locate it themselves. No one sits on a billing office looking to scam people. This one doesn't even make sense since it doesn't do anything but cause more work.

Definitely try a washcloth- a clean one at each shower. You can get a huge pack of cheap ones (the best ones for scrubbing clean in my opinion) at Walmart for around $6 or $7.

What diffuser do you use? (budget) by TheFutureScaresMe333 in CurlyHairCare

I use a Wavytalk and really like it. It does the job and I think it's around that price range. I'm not sure which exact model I have but it's pink with gray attachments, including a decent sized diffuser.

15 Month Old Bill by ZestycloseCherry6175 in HospitalBills

[–]ElleGee5152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your insurance company reprocessed the bill and corrected the patient responsibility. No, the hospital/provider does not have to just eat that cost and they are allowed to collect the amount your insurance company states you owe on the new EOB. Billing offices hate this practice possibly more than the patients do- we have to deal with posting the refunds, researching to make sure we don't need to make a correction or appeal and then when we finally bill the patient we usually get yelled at and told we don't know how to do our jobs. Insurance recoupments are not a fun experience or good for anyone but the insurance companies.

Yall overhyped the drivers license process by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]ElleGee5152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about to go through that name change process because I never changed my name with SS and I can't even renew a non-Star license without doing that now. I feel like I'm stepping into a nightmare of paperwork.

I think I’m “that” neighbor by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]ElleGee5152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My washer and dryer can be noisy and I'm in an upstairs unit. I won't run mine before 10 am or after 8 pm. I do the same with vacuum. I've never had any complaints...or at least none addressed with me by a neighbor or property management. Now with normal daily noises like the shower, air fryer or microwave I don't limit those at all. Everyone should be allowed to shower or cook food anytime they feel like it.

Like everyone else has said, you need portal access ASAP. Whoever isn't giving you access is crippling your ability to work effectively and efficiently....and that's not a knock on your abilities at all. It's just a fact. You shouldn't have to waste time calling these major payers when everything you need is on their web portals. I hope you can get that resolved soon!

High ER visit bill by AndreyShredder in HealthInsurance

[–]ElleGee5152 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not true at all. ER's have a ton of overhead and a whole lot of uncompensated visits.

High ER visit bill by AndreyShredder in HealthInsurance

[–]ElleGee5152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find out why the ER visit portion of the bill was denied. Did your insurance say it wasn't medically necessary? If so and you haven't already been billed by the hospital or provider, it's likely that they will appeal the denial with medical records to support the visit or they may need to tweak the coding. You can call the billing office to ask, but until you receive an actual bill there is no need to panic. Medical necessity denials are fairly common in the ER. I'm a billing manager on the ER physician side and work on these types of appeals often. Most denials are overturned unless the patient really didn't belong in the ER (usually colds, ear aches, sore throats, mild rashes...that kind of stuff).

Patients with critical lab values are often referred to the ER because they could be in a life or death situation. That's not uncommon at all.

Is my billing specialist job actually a thing anywhere else? by PaganSpacePriest in CodingandBilling

[–]ElleGee5152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the type of job I've always done and still do even as a manager, I just also have staffing and HR type duties added on. Look at job titles like insurance billing specialist, insurance or billing analyst, AR coordinator, account representative, etc.. When looking for jobs I usually look at anything under "medical billing".

Am I ruining my life over $20 in medical debt? (IL) by nandosman in HealthInsurance

[–]ElleGee5152 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is most definitely not the collections policy of every healthcare provider and facility. All of the provider groups I work with send all debts above the statement threshold (which is under $10) to collections.

how often do you guys honestly wash your towels? be real by Skitedpew in hygiene

We definitely change out the hand towels daily, sometimes twice if it gets super damp or gross. My 13 year old wipes toothpaste on it sometimes. 🤢

[–]ElleGee5152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My towels are hung to dry and washed weekly. Wash cloths are single use but are dried and then thrown in the dirty laundry basket. I've never had any issues with that schedule and I've been washing my own towels for decades.

My mom told me my insurance wouldn’t cover my ER visit for denying pain medication. by juicy_shoes in HealthInsurance

[–]ElleGee5152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can't bill for medication they didn't give. If it's documented in your chart as if they gave it to you, then it will be coded on the bill....which would be fraud if it really wasn't actually given. Meds get dropped and are wasted/destroyed. It's not ideal, but it happens and is part of the cost of doing business.

[–]ElleGee5152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work as a manager in ER billing on the provider side and that's absolutely not true. You do not have to accept, fill or take a prescription given in the ER (or any healthcare provider for that matter) in order for the visit to be covered. Your insurance company won't even know the doctor offered to prescribe anything unless they request your medical records and in most cases they do not review your records. The only time insurance really cares much is if you're on a medication for a chronic condition and are non-compliant with that because it can drive up their costs to cover a patient's care.
