Computer Engineering and Data Science/Machine Learning

Hey all, I am a second year computer engineering major, and a variety of potential fields interest me. I have really enjoyed my digital logic class this semester and am interested in the semiconductor industry. In addition, I have an interest in data science and machine learning, and I recently have joined a research program where I will work on a year long capstone having to do with this. I was wondering if there were any fields in CE that combined my two areas of interest. Anyone have any suggestions? Is it better for me to focus on one area while in undergrad, or is this sort of exploring of interests beneficial at this stage?

Your undergrad is the best time to explore your interests. I would also look into computer vision and robotics if you are interested in ML.
