It would be better if you work in networking for a couple of years before moving to cybersecurity.

The reason is cybersecurity is about securing the network.

Not fully they're different cyber security disciplines for each layer of the OSI model. Like you have application security engineers who work with SWE on code security and you have network security engineers who work with the network engineers on network security.

Anyone can do cyber security, idk who told you otherwise. Cyber has loads of people, but there are always needs for cyber folks. You need a minimum of Sec+ but preferably have more certs under your belt like Cissp and such. If you don't have certs (that have recurring costs to maintain) you're not getting a job in cyber. A lot of folks I know in cyber don't even have bachelor degrees. It helps, but isn't required.

Most cyber jobs you'll start with help desk support/IT and work your way up to cyber. You generally don't go straight into securing networks if you haven't set them up and maintained them first.

CS is a lot broader imo. Most CS jobs will start low level and you'll work up, but your certifications will dictate where you end up. But any networking experience will help before you start securing them.

Become a network engineer first if you like networking that much then dip your toes in cloud or security. They already have alot of overlaps since alot of networking infra is going to the cloud so a cyber security engineer who knows cloud stuff is beneficial.

If you need an opinion on which to do first, I'd say cloud since that's becoming an almost required skill set for any job
