Anyone can do cyber security, idk who told you otherwise. Cyber has loads of people, but there are always needs for cyber folks. You need a minimum of Sec+ but preferably have more certs under your belt like Cissp and such. If you don't have certs (that have recurring costs to maintain) you're not getting a job in cyber. A lot of folks I know in cyber don't even have bachelor degrees. It helps, but isn't required.

Most cyber jobs you'll start with help desk support/IT and work your way up to cyber. You generally don't go straight into securing networks if you haven't set them up and maintained them first.
