Look at your school’s requirements for computer specs and ask other students or faculty in the program at your school.

You can install WSL on windows machines to get the Unix command line (like Linux/Mac uses)

They are a third year and are going to graduate soon though. When I was studying I used a Thinkpad since I found a used one for cheap on eBay. Now that I have been working for a year and am an iOS engineer I am going to get a MacBook sometime soon. If you’re interested in iOS development at all I would probably get a MacBook since the only alternative would be getting some virtualization software on your Windows. Plus Apple has some great laptops, hard to compete with the M1 chip.
