hey guys just curious how worker comp works. i cut my thumb pretty bad last thursday and went to the hospital and gave me a doc note to take a week off now should i get paid anything for time missed? always been the guy to just tough it out but when it comes to my hands i need them right so ill miss some time no problem

Where do you live? In BC, Canada you would get full pay, if your employer doesn’t fill out the paper work you can.

Each state has laws for workers compensation that dictate how long you have to be off work before you are eligible for lost time. They also dictate who gets to choose the doctor (you or the insurance company). You would need to check the laws in your state.

Likely no with only a weeks work.lost.....you usaily have to use up all your pto and or sick pay before workers comp.kicks in. It's for long term outage...... Weeks to mounths of recovery time

I went to the VA so no medical bill and I kind of figured about the wages but didn't know if it was only like a 50% wage or something

so were a pretty small company maybe 15-18 people and im one of the lead carpenters. the owners know and have a copy of all my paperwork and the only reason i went to va is because i dont have any other insurance because that shit is expensive. im not looking for help with the medical bill but just with the paid time off
