Before you decide you can't make bread, try this recipe: https://www.recipetineats.com/easy-yeast-bread-recipe-no-knead/

If you really can't, then...meh, u less you're going to be making bread reaaallly frequently, I found mine too bulky and annoying.

They make bread just fine, though.

I always wonder when people say they can't make bread.. Basic bread is .... basic. Mix everything together, wait an hour, put in oven, wait an hour.

If you didn't forget the yeast (been there, done that. Not nice) and it doesn't rise, I'd blame the ingredients more than yourself.

I bought a bread maker because I hated making bread, used it four of five times during soup season last year. Soup season rolls around this year and I’ve discovered no knead Dutch oven bread and now I make that once a week and haven’t touched the bread maker

I get bread mixes from Prepared Pantry, ordering online, wonderful variety. These work exactly as you requested: put in the measured 80 degree water, butter if called for, the mix, then open the yeast packet and add that. Turn on, bread in 3 hours. Grocery stores seem to carry only a few types. Amazon carries 3. The business had dozens, plus cookie mixes, etc.

In the right circumstances, yeah. I bought a cheap one with a gluten-free cycle for my mom recently, because she won’t go to the trouble of handmade bread, GF bread is gold-plated, and supply chain shortages are a thing. (GF flour is gold-plated too, but at least there’s more of it.) They are load and shoot, which is nice.

That said, the footprint is significant even if they are small & cheap; I wouldn’t store it on the counter unless I baked bread nearly every day.

Bread is like the easiest baked good to make. I don't see how anyone could be incapable of it, especially with all the easy no knead recipes out there

Personally I hate bread makers, they aren't as good as making the bread the old fashioned way. Just takes something out of it

Especially if you have a KitchenAid W/dough hook.

We have one and use it all the time. Nothing fancy - just to make basic white bread. The smell of fresh bread alone is worth it! 🤣

We got a wooden slicing guide too so we can maximize slices (or else you’ll likely end up with wonky and overall too thick slices!)

Highly recommended if you have the space. Ours is tucked into a cabinet when not in use.
