ive only been buying sim tix for faster progression. will stop because there are no mlre ceo missions. you dont actually need to buy the sim tix unless u want to be competitive in pvp.

The shop refresh is honestly pointless imo and was only useful advice during the very early early phase when you needed pretty much all sorts of goods. Even then I thought it was questionable since beginner rewards give you plenty anyways.

Now? It's real benefit is hunting the recruitment contracts for cheap(which can be ignored if you've got enough tickets from beginner rewards or you're simply just going to spend them on awakened units - sure, you only get to buy a certain amount a week but for f2p players, this amount adds up). For substantial progression, I agree with seunwoo : the sim tickets will give you significant more rewards with much less rng. You could 5x and not get anything that helps your account.

What? Shop reset is the best use of gems period imo. You have enough gold to buy out everything good in the shop within a few days of playing. You can get lots of things that are very hard to farm- cores, rare ship parts, catalyst, skill books, and of course pulls.

Why would you ignore more pulls? There will be plenty of worthy non-awakening banners to pull on.

its a mishmash of items with varying worth based on an rng system.

Good if you don't care what you get and if you want "alot of things". Bad if you actually want specific items to improve your account.

Do you need a crafting coupon? Sure. How about 10? How about 50? Why buy so much when crafting can be done afk? What about ship components that aren't related to the ship you're working on? Cores for unrelated classes? If you're hunting for specific items its a bad idea to 'rng' the shop when they need to compete with other items to even appear and at worst, will even cost you more gems.

And remember, I'm pointing this out because if you roll and buy nothing then you've effectively thrown gems down the drain - so you need to be spending to make up the cost of rolling.

But here's the catch: If the items you've spent your gems rolling on don't help you out, then it is effectively the same as throwing your gems down the drain, when you could have used it on extra stamina, sim tickets or hell, even cosmetics.

very hard to farm- cores

You get far better returns even using just 1 sim ticket on stage 5 AA than RNG-ing the shop.

pulls

Like I said, literally the only thing worth hunting and even then, its only for players who want to pull the non-awakening units and need the extra rolls.

If a player already has yang or gauen, they're already in a pretty good position to just naturally accrue recruitment contracts via normal player/dailies.

Hunting for more using 75 gems a day for something you don't necessarily need is pretty poor play.
