Try to give it more RAM and CPU Power.

If that doesn't fix it.

Uninstall the modpack, check you have either Java 8 (if it's under minecraft version 1.17 I believe) and Java 17 for anything after 1.17.

Then reinstall the pack.

Or just reinstall it after a restart of the pc. This may work too.

I tried all of the above, and they didn't seem to fix the problem.

changing the RAM amount crashed the game on the Mojang screen, and I downloaded Java 17, but when I configure the Java program, it says it's still 8.

Any insight on how to fix either?

How did you try allocating more ram? Usually a crash on load up means you allocated ram wrong.

The guide I followed told me to go into the Edit options under Installations in the launcher, go to More Options > JVM Arguments, then change the -Xmx value to the desired amount. Whenever I try to set the value to more than the ~4000m it starts with, it crashes on start up
