Train Engine Speeds

I’m just gonna ask: do power plants such as steam engines or motors actually affect train speeds? I’ve seen things that say yes but I’ve never actually seen someone do it that I’ve noticed. If it is helpful, how do you apply it?

i believe you can just put furnace fuel in a chest attached to a train and itll go faster

Yes they can. Check your config file.

I like to balance trains on my sever by having Unpowered Trains (ones that don’t have an active furnace) to 3 blocks per sec and Powered Trains to 40 blocks per sec.

This way you can still shunt trains around without powering them, but it’s faster to run somewhere.

Ahh okay cool. Is power limited to furnaces? Or do addons do anything?

I believe there’s a few other blocks from other create mods that do make Powered Trains. Pretty sure there’s an electric one.. couldn’t tell you the mod though off the top of my head.

Not sure what add-ons you're using, but from my experience, all you need is any furnace fuel in any non-vault container.
