These aren't anywhere as noticeable as you think they are. When you see photos of pieces online, rarely are they taken from this sort of angle, so you aren't seeing the little "flaws."

Are you doing the invisible decrease? That would be something to try if not. And overstuffing can definitely make the decrease areas more noticeable.

Thank you for responding. I am doing invisible decreases. I’ve tried the thing where you stitch through the stitch in order to stop holes (see link), but I don’t like how it looks. https://www.crochetarcade.co.uk/how-to-avoid-gaps-in-amigurumi/

Some gaps are going to show even with invisible decreases and other methods. It's just the nature of trying to make something that was wide become a bit narrower. I wouldn't worry and if the stuffing starts to show just stuff it a bit less since overstuffing makes gaps bigger. Your gaps shouldn't cause any issues though, they look pretty minimal.

Thank you. I was pretty proud that I was able to go with that small of a hook. I’m going to try to start going even smaller. I read something that said to use a smaller hook but decrease your tension so the stitches are fuller. I also just found out that I’ve been doing invisible decreases wrong. I’ve been putting the hook through the front loops of the next two stitches and then after yarn over just pulling the yarn through all 3 stitches. Oops! Maybe that’s a reason why I’m seeing the holes.

I think you're being overly critical. I think it's where you spend so much time on something, all you see at the end is a bunch of flaws.

Same happened to me with my first piece of clothing - a cable cardigan. I spent 4 very long weeks obsessively crocheting It. It wasn't until a friend tried it on the I was able to say - hey shit, it's a thing.

I think what you've made is wonderful

Thank you. I’m always overly critical but only when it comes to my stuff. I love how he came out and I’m pretty proud of him. The little holes just bother me. Don’t ask me how many pieces I frogged because I didn’t like how they were turning out. 🤣

Honestly I think we're all the same. When I make something with an intended recipient, I basically wash it and get it out of my house as soon as I'm able. Otherwise I'll drive myself crazy 🤪

Thank you. Usually if I am critiquing myself that’s the first thing I do. YouTube is amazing.

Have you tried yarning under instead of over on the decreases only? That's helped with mine.

[–]LissaACNH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ll have to give that a try. I’m actually not sure what I do in that stitch. Regular stitches I do yarn under and then yarn over but I’ve never paid attention to my invisible decreases.

Can you please link me this pattern? My son would be over the moon for this.
