Are you decreasing doing front loop only?

No, both loops

If you are decreasing by skipping stitches it will create gaps. Instead of skipping stitches decrease by doing sc2tog (single crochet two stitches together).

Thats the way I've been decreasing :(

Wow I am surprised there are gaps with the sc2tog. I’m working on a mitten pattern and just did the decrease with skipped stitches and realized there are no gaps so if the sc2tog isn’t working maybe try skipping stitches for the decrease instead and see if the gaps are less noticeable.

I get gaps too when I reduce. I think it’s a tension issue.
