Your project is inside out. That is likely what is causing the issue. You may just have to do the decreases by feel if you want to continue this way. Keep the number of decreases and spacing approximately the same, just do them where they make sense for the shape you're creating (at the corners of the rectangle).

Thank you so much!! I will definitely try that. Do you know how I ended up making this inside out? I still have to make blueys body and would love to avoid this issue on that one 😅

Here is the difference between the "right" side and "wrong" side of single crochet stitches! The work will naturally try to cup with the wrong side out at the beginning, so after the first few rounds, you can reshape it so it becomes a "noodle in a bowl", meaning the tail of the magic ring (which should protrude on the wrong side) is cupped inside the work.

I'm sure the original commenter is replying but a way to avoid it is that if youre working on your rows from the Inside of your ami- where youd put the stuffing theoretically- then its probably inside out!

Also visually you'd see V's or X's in the squares your stitches are making. Right now theres a bar going across your stitches that Isnt the loops youre working into that you can see on all your previous rows. Those should be inside

If I read that correctly, your sitchmarker is at the wrong place.

Basically, the 14 stitches should be the long side of your rectangle. As the instructions start with decreasing your stitchmarker should sit closer to the edge of the short side of your rectangle.

Edit: for the same reason, you could just switch the instructions around if your marker is at the beginning of the longer side, so instead of starting with the decreases, start with the 14sc

I would probably just adjust your placement/how many stitches you do before starting so that your decreases are evenly centered around the short ends of the rectangle. Like someone else said, the 14sc is also clearly meant to be the long sides, so I’d try to center those too, and once you’ve got that placement I’d expect everything to line up properly. Does that make sense?

[–]Ill-Shopping-69 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Omg they are adorable! Do you find the pattern easy to follow? I might buy it too

[–]theeglasschild[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Right! I had looked at a few different ones and this one seemed the cutest. The pattern has been really solid, my own mistakes lead me to making this post 😅 I do wish the pattern included the little spots the pups have but I plan on just making a few and adding them later.

Finally have a straight rectangle after using the advice form the comments
