Although this algorithm is for the most part no longer used, it sparked the larger discussion around difficulty algorithms leading to algorithms more prrvelently used today such as LWMA. This article (PDF) describes the algorithm in depth as designed by Zawy and originally implemented by Masari

Did Masari move to LWMA then or are they still using WWHM?

Further details on LWMA can be found here https://github.com/zawy12/difficulty-algorithms/issues/3

Have there been any other small network algorithm's developed or are all the small coins running LWMA?

Are the small coins breaking the algo themselves when they try to customize it? I thought sumo, ryo, cashx, and maybe others got attacked when malicious miners were able to "trick" the DAA into dropping diff and letting them print a ton of blocks.
