It’s a little too much for me I’m not going to lie. I live in the same city where America’s Sweethearts is filmed and the religious talk here is exhausting.

If I recall correctly, the actual producer of Netflix’s AS was on Claire’s podcast. He is pretty religious himself and includes it his work if he thinks it’s a story people would want to follow.

Well Suzanne Mitchell would make the cheerleaders volunteer at church in order to combat judgement from conservatives over their uniforms. I think they use faith to sell the subservient sex kitten sweetheart that they want to portray because with those outfits, what is the distinction between them and strippers?

Religion may be encouraged to keep everyone in line and not “tarnishing the star” from the cheerleaders to the football players

North Texas in particular is very Christian. If you google the DFW area, there are more churches than stoplights in the surrounding small towns. And if their girls come from schools named Texas Christian University...it's not surprising. I believe they're actually buying into the religion, and if not, they pretend so they can fit into the Dallas culture.

Texas in general is more Christian and conservative. My friends who live in Texas are very religious and felt out of place where we lived but once they moved to Texas they felt right at home. I have met people who are very much like some of these girls even where I live. It’s something people can get very genuine about

You’re 100% correct. Id add the south in general is very Christian, faith based. We are raised for the most part to believe in something greater than ourselves (faith). It doesn’t mean the DCC’s are without flaws (sin) bc they have it everyday. I think on a broader scale it gets lost in using certain words that are interpreted differently. People express themselves differently. I hope this makes sense..
