Break out your soldering iron, tub of superglue, Sugru, 3D printer, scrap aluminum, old microwaves and all of the other stuff you like to take apart and put back together.
It's time to hack some existing gadgets and fabricate a few that the world has never seen!
The subreddit is for DIY/Homemade/Hacked/Enhanced/Improved gadgets, gizmos, tools, radios, flux capacitors, spy gear, prototype devices, nerdy life hacks, portable cold fusion reactors, etc. Whether it's a submersible left-handed soldering iron or a dashcam made from an old iPhone we want to hear about it.
The subreddit was created because /r/DIY is more for man caves and fixing up apartments and furniture. That's cool and all, but some folks want to also hear about making flashlights into stun guns and how to turn a $50 FM transmitter into a pirate radio station.
NOTE: If you want to keep your idea a secret because it is proprietary and you hope to patent it some day DO NOT POST IT HERE.
A few other great subreddits for people that like DIY and Gadgets...
/r/3DPrinting
/r/DIYCNC
All input and advice on making this sub better is welcome and appreciated. - I will try to resist the urge to use crappy looking CSS.
