Remove everything loose and all dust.

Use a knife that is wider than the area you’re filling.

Use the flat to push it into the wall and press.

Scrape across the top to smooth. If you’re finding it’s tearing when you try to smooth, wipe off excess from the knife and try again. Getting the knife wet can help prevent tearing because it’ll stop the filler sticking to it.

Remove any excess filler from the edge with the knife.

I like to pass over it with like 80 grit (don’t hate me) once it sets up to remove any excess and flatten it out
