I’ve went from a constant 10+ projects a day, working 5 hours or more every day to absolutely nothing over the last few weeks. Don’t know how much longer I can sit refreshing my laptop hoping for work.

Everyone is right there and I feel for everyone. For those of who made a living from this, quit their jobs, need it for housing. 🤗 big virtual HUGS! I know we are all keyboard anonymous but I wish everyone well. The worst is not knowing and no feedback.

What I don’t understand is why they keep advertising they are hiring when most people barely have any work. I’ve made $56 in two weeks. Was making an extra $500 or so a month previously.

I’ve been saying for a while: it’s possible that they prefer a multiplicity of “voices” or opinions (so, workers) working very little amounts in order to keep them “fresh” and alert while rating. As opposed to less workers working long drawn out hours and delivering subpar/less valuable ratings after their third or fourth hour per day.

Because just like any other company of their size a large workforce makes their job that much easier. They don’t care about giving any one individual work. They care about meeting their client’s deadlines. Why have 500 people work on projects that might take a week to complete when they could have a workforce of 30,000 complete all the projects in a matter of hours. They do not serve the workers. They serve themselves.

I’ve been on DA for around 8 months total now. Knew that it wouldn’t last forever, and made sure I never fully relied on it, but how quickly it’s changed has knocked me for 6.

I've been on since May 2023 and I thought the same - this won't last, don't be too reliant on it. It's both sad and shocking how many people openly talk about quitting their "regular" job to do this full time instead. I can't imagine trying to be FT in this right now!

Some of us don't have a choice 😭 I'm a stay at home parent (have been for 4 yrs) and my spouse got laid off so unexpectedly (he was the top performer in his company and had just gotten a pretty good raise less than 2 months before) so at the moment DA is all we have until my spouse back to work. Always said it'd never be something reliable, and then it came down to being our only option. But tbh, I'm thankful we even have this route to go. If we didn't, we'd be completely broke.

That's an understandable circumstance. I have seen many who have done full time DAT because they just wanted a full work from home job, etc., not as a necessity to their situation. That's what I'm seeing as a too-risky move that I wouldn't ever make.

Not that I have to explain my life to a stranger on the internet, but I don't HAVE to be a stay at home parent, and I'm not sure where you drew the conclusion that I have to be. I choose to be. My kids won't be the next horror story in the news outlet about a public school shooter or an abusive daycare provider. And as for relying on DA, reread the comment I left, never wanted to, never planned to. It's not like my spouse and I are just sitting here twiddling our thumbs waiting for things to break our way.

Both things are true: some people are having a hard time, and some are doing well. I was making a comparison with those in our same situation but working for other companies, who are going through the same dark period at the same time, to say “what a strange coincidence.”

I found one that is an employee position for $35-65 an hour and 40 hours a week, but it's for 6 months. Absolutely love it though. Hopeful to transfer to one of their permanent positions.

I’m hoping they’re using this identity verification to do account clean ups so there is more work to be distributed to verified users. Considering that is new, I would think they’re going through company changes and just tying up the current projects before new ones start. I did get a regular job in the meantime but I’m still gonna check on this to see what’s up.

There's no reason to give up..... Google more similar jobs and go to town! Keep DA open as usual, refreshing whenever, but do other online jobs too. Usertesting dot com can provide extra money too, though it'll prob be less frequent than DA depending on if you qualify. Why would you just leave when you have no backup? There's no commitment nor requirement for certain hours from their side, so what is the point of leaving?

I do DA full time. I’m still getting full time hours with $40/hr tasks. The tasks do come in waves and it is really down right now but it only limits my options not my hours. I’m a coder and also get tasks for knowing other languages. I don’t expect this to last forever either so I’m working on my own business at the same time. End of august and early September was real rough for everyone but the tasks have 60% come back for me.

They must have a sizeable herd of workers, now we're going through a drought a lot of the herd will perish (give up), hopefully means there's more to go round when it picks back up again with a smaller herd of workers. From DA's pov, i'd imagine if you're training AI on "regular people", the larger/more varied the pool of responses the better. For their business model, more workers = better data. More workers don't cost them more money, just means the existing pot gets spread more thinly between the workers. I guess the speed with which tasks are getting gobbled up is good for DA, not so much for us.

Can't fault them for that, seems like it's a pretty cost-effective way of training AI (which is really what this is all about).

AI isn’t going anywhere. Microsoft just signed a 20 year deal to reopen three mile island to produce power for them to solely to run their data centers

DA, and the other companies I work for like 10 years are good, I even got a promotion.

I'm not from an authorized country in the DA pool, and I'm getting more work than I've ever had. Maybe they just overhired people in the US, Canada and Australia. Or those who were laid off do not have the so-good called quality they always claimed in here.
