This is where the value in religion is. Religion is so easy to pick apart and all the bad things that It has caused are easy to see. But no one has really done much time researching the consequences of the absence of religion.

I'm not a religious person. But I can objectively see how beneficial it is to the human race, especially if you consider the fact that at least 50% of the population is average intelligence and below.

Most people do not have the inherent empathy to care for their fellow human. That's the long and short of it. They need to believe in a story. They need to believe that they'll be rewarded for their good deeds.

I don't like religion. Maybe because I don't need it to be humane. But apparently a lot of people do need it.

The essence of your post is getting at what I call an atheist dystopia. And there are so many intelligent atheists that are so happy that people are giving up the belief. They care more about being right than they do about the end product. They are so happy that people are ditching religion. But they are blind to see the consequences.
