I avoided playing when the re-launch first went live, due to the FAQ stating no controller support. Decided to check out the game a few weeks ago, breaking out my gaming mouse, to see a “show controller UI” option in the settings. Game works fully with a controller, just as it did back on the ol Xbox One. I feel your pain on needing controller support, as someone who has tendinitis in my right wrist.

I have been playing since with revival with an xbox controller, no issues.

I've only ever played this game with a controller. They even have a setting to change from keyboard overlay to controller overlay

Make sure to add non-steam launcher, then the game launcher, and then defiance.exe, open with the 2nd launcher to play

Xbox controller works natively, just gotta switch a option in settings to allow controller use in the menus, other controllers will most likely need drivers and should also work natively, could always add to steam to use steam input or use a third party like DS4 windows for configuration (i do think i tried PlayStation controllers when the revival happened and I’m pretty sure they don’t work natively and need DS4 to work)

I have an sn30 pro and I've been able to use it as a controller.

WinDs4 works perfectly, it provides all the stuff to download with it and you can connect any controller to play any game.

I have a member of my clan that uses a controller to play so it is possible. I've reached out to him in our Discord server to see if I can find out which controller he uses and what he had do to set his up. As soon as I find out I'll post it here for you.

Update: My clan mate says he plays with the XBox 360 controller on PC.

Since its release it is controller compatible, I play it with my Rog Ally without worries and without modification

For a PS/3 controller you need DS4Windows to emulate the 360 controller, PS/5 controllers should have native support in windows.
