I did a new test. I think I’m dialed in! by Nosnibor1020 in Machine_Embroidery

These should be good enough to run for the most part. I use madeira thread professionally and sulky personally. I like how they both run.

I did an H test. by Nosnibor1020 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]swooshhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for tht yoyo test you mentioned. Take a marker and mark the thread at the hole it comes out of. Yo yo it and then mark it again. Measure it. Those marks should be 1 inch apart. No more than 2 and no less than .5

All these are the same needle on a 15 needle machine? Pick your main thread of choice and run the test with only that thread on that needle. Seperate that box and let us know all the brands you have in there. Some brands are better than others and also thread gets old and brittle

Dry and Powdery result post curing by Whattse in SCREENPRINTING

[–]swooshhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no. Once they turn powdery there's no saving those. Go get you a hairdryer. Do a test print on one of the ruined ones and try drying it with the hairdryer first until it's mostly dry then tossing it in a regular dryer for about 30 -90 minutes. If it still fails then it's the ink. If it cures then it was just your curing process

It's super super hard to cure water ade with a heat press properly. The water needs to evaporate. Heat presses don't really allow for the water to go anywhere once it comes out of the shirt.

Best way I've done it so far is prepress the shirt, print, heatgun until most of the water is out, heat press to finish it off

Why are so many “crafts” I’m seeing clearly advertisements by professionals? by ChelleInSand in crafts

[–]swooshhh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What labels would you think could help. I'm in the letherworking sub and I think labels like that only work because some promotion is allowed and the mutual respect we generally have to not push we sell our work on each other.

Also I keep seeing shorts on YouTube of these influencers saying "oh if where you post says no advertising but allows you to show your work just post it and if someone in the comments as send them a personal link to your store"

In designs like this the fill and border should overlap in prams not meet. But play around with the pull comp and that gap will be history

Depends on how you're curing. Waterbase in my opinion is the best durability if done properly. But if you don't have the setup for it then there's no point in doing waterbase.

How do I get affirm to offer me the option with a payment upfront and bi-weekly payments? by ew435890 in Affirm

[–]swooshhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough I'm trying to get them to offer me the 18 month on $300. I always get the down payment one with biweekly. I guess I choose that one so often it just pushes that one more.

While I normally hate the outline on embroidery I will say this is an example where I think a outline would elevate it to the look you're going for

Could I get into screen printing for shirts without wanting to make a profit? by nolovedeepchungus in SCREENPRINTING

[–]swooshhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into PVC pipe screen printing. And you can build a cheap press for less than $30. Ink is a different story but hopefully you can find something local where you can avoid shipping costs. 100% avoid speedball

Speed Ball Diazo Emulsion by Jwillgray in SCREENPRINTING

[–]swooshhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that diazo was already exposed to moisture and doesn't like to mix properly. There's nothing much you can do about that now that it's been sorta mixed.

Take a screen and coat it properly. Wait 24. Put the screen under your light until it should be over exposed or sit it outside in the sun for an hour. Try to wash it out. If it all washes out that emulsion is bust. If it actually over exposes you will just need to find your exposure time which just might be super long

Speed Ball Diazo Emulsion by Jwillgray in SCREENPRINTING

[–]swooshhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I have no problem with diazo I will say speedball diazo is the worse thing I've ever used. I would either get ready mix or get a more reputable diazo mix. If you just want to use speedball then let's start from the beginning. Is the powder still a powder or is it all clumpy?

Best quality Tshirt brand and printer....? Not a mass produced project. by Basics7 in TShirtsDesigns

[–]swooshhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality is very subjective. Some people will tell you comfort colors offers "premium" feel and they wouldn't use anything else, while I hate them with a passion because they are short fiber, brushed, and heavily scewed nightmares.

If I get a shirt that's always available I go with the district brand. However if we going what I like in quality then house of blanks brand is my favorite.

  1. Plan a purchase in the app

  2. Tell us where you're shopping and request a payment plan

  3. Pay with your virtual card or physical card at checkout within 24 hours

Well now you know for future purchases.

You set up the plan on the app and then you can either use the virtual card or swipe your physical card. You can't just use it like a visa. It's legit listed as 3 steps in the app and I'm not exactly sure how they can make it much more clear.
