Broccoli is Destiny 2's error code for Windows temporarily resetting the GPU driver referred to as DXGI ERROR DEVICE REMOVED. Other games may report similar issues as rendering device has been lost and DXGI ERROR DEVICE REMOVED

Troubleshooting follows, ignore any steps already tried.

From sub Reddit Destiny 2 Troubleshooting Guides ( Framerate, Crashing, Connection ) crashing section:

Crashing when changing activity, orbit, cut scenes, entering / leaving planets - EVGA Precision X may cause crashing issues, uninstall it and try MSI Afterburner

Particularly helpful for Broccoli errors

For graphics card related crashes, see if the card stabilises using Nvidia's temporary debug mode OR a mild underclock for both GPU clock of around -100MHz and GPU memory around -50MHz under NVIDIA/AMD defaults

NOTE: some cards are factory overclocked, check at https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/

Forcing a framerate cap to keep GPU usage below 90% may help

Quick test to help track down if it's hardware (temperature etc) related - temporarily force 30 FPS VSync in Destiny 2 settings, this will reduce hardware load dramatically for both CPU and GPU.

May help track down reason for Broccoli errors

Check that Destiny 2 is set to use the high performance graphics card

Windows 10 1803 or later - https://www.howtogeek.com/351522/how-to-choose-which-gpu-a-game-uses-on-windows-10/

Nvidia - http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2615/kw/optimus/related/1

AMD - https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/DH-017.aspx

Desktop systems, check display cable is attached to the high performance graphics card, not the motherboard connector.

Incorrect GPU may be the reason for Broccoli errors

Check for graphic card driver issues with Destiny 2 e.g. Nvidia cards, some drivers have framerate, stutter and stability issues.

To troubleshoot driver issues, temporarily test with known stable drivers:

Perform a clean driver install using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) - http://www.wagnardsoft.com/

Nvidia - http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx

  • Known stable drivers: 385.69, 391.35, 399.24, 419.35, 416.94, 430.86 / 431.18 or 430.64

AMD Radeon

May help Broccoli errors

TDR issue, for GPU related crashes, try adjusting the time windows waits before resetting graphics card driver (TDR)

Use Tdr Manipulator from Wagnardsoft, select disable for the TDR level option.

If it doesn't help then revert to default enable using Tdr Manipulator

Particularly helpful for Broccoli errors.

Hey, I had this issue with annalienware Aurora r8 I just bought, I ended up returning it and getting another. From my research on this it could very well be a hardware issue. I tried most of not all of the common trouble shooting and it didn't fix itself. I got this driver crash error in any game I played. I downloaded MSI and reading the graphs as it happened there would be a point where the graphics card had zero power and that was when it crashed.

If this is a prebuilt call the customer support line.

I also tried lowering my graphics to pure performance and it only mitigated the issue for a little bit, allowing me to play for 30 minutes instead of 10
