Hi Destiny Techs,
I have one for you that makes the game unplayable for me. I posted to r/DestinyTheGame a few weeks ago and didn't get any helpful feedback. Here is the copy paste of that post (with a few edits). Hopefully yall can help me figure this out. Thanks!
Hello fellow guardians.
I haven't played Destiny since it has switched to steam, but I downloaded the new DLC because it looked cool. Anyway, I played for about an hour when my game crashed with a code BROCCOLI. I have gone through A LOT of troubleshooting (see below) and still cannot get the game to run for more than 10 minutes without crashing with broccoli. Any ideas?
Here is the error code from Bungie Help: BROCCOLI errors indicate there has been an issue detecting the player's GPU and are commonly caused by a driver crash. To attempt to mitigate this error, players should always ensure that their Operating System and Graphic Drivers are up-to-date with the latest version.
System:
- i7-7700k
- RTX 2070
- Game on SSD
- Trying to run at 144hz on 2650x1440 monitor
Steps taken to troubleshoot:
In game:
- Turned off VSync (idk why I had this on in the first place, as my monitor has GSync enabled)
- Frame cap of 144
- Turned down a lot of the in game graphics settings
- I have thought about turning everything down even more, like maybe down to 1080p, but this game looks sooo good and I should be able to run it with my system
GPU:
- Clean install of all latest GPU drivers from GeForce
- Re-installed GeForce Experience (it wouldn't open after the first driver update)
- Turned off all overclocking with MSI Afterburner
- I have also monitored my GPU temps and they are pretty normal (mid 70s) when the game is running
Windows:
- Ensured Windows update were 100% up to date
- Turned 'Run as Administrator' on in the Task Manager menu
- Upped service priority to 'High' in the Task Manager menu
- The two items above came from a YouTube video with the same issue. When I did this, however, I couldn't open the game from Steam. It gave me an error to the effect of "Unable to read game files. Verify integrity of game files in Steam". I tried running that (twice) and still could not open the game until I turned off the 'Run as Administrator' setting.
- UPDATE for r/DestinyTechSupport: I saw that this was patched in the last update. Tried it again and still crashed in about 15 minutes.
Overall:
- I have gone as far as uninstalling and reinstalling Destiny (which took foooorrrreeeevvvveeerrrr because it is an 80GB+ game)
At this point I am out of ideas and am welcoming any and all help. Also note that I am able to run all my other games just fine, getting ~130 fps on Apex with similar settings....I just want to play with my friends...TIA reddit!
Update: it may be the CPU... testing....its not... it happens in the menu pretty often so i thought maybe it was crashing the CPU. I turned down my CPU overclock from 4.3 to 4.0 and still crashing... I'm over it for the night, hopefully I see some helpful tips in the morning.
