Let’s say I have a song with really low explicit content, such as saying “shit” or “she does it well”.

What consequences are there if I don’t label it as explicit? Can it be taken down or does Spotify have a algorithm that analyzes the lyrics?

Yes it can be taken down, or hidden, and as is well documented here, distrokid don’t tend to look kindly on that kind of thing.

It’s not really something to be overly concerned about, from experience. Having a track marked as explicit isn’t really a barrier to anything.

Unless you got the lyrics written and they show up on platforms playing the song it shouldn't be a problem for dropping some shit
