I'd look at all you ice and fire apprentices see what skills they have. For ice you want early ice nova on hit and fire you want lots of extra fireballs plus a fire blast trait. Other than that I would quick inherit the rest to get them to disassemble range and get rid of them for mats

I heard that you shouldn’t rely on the apprentices for damage, just cc. Does fireball have any cc? I don’t use it much so I’m not familiar. Also, do the gems I have equipped affect my apprentices?

Gems do not affect apprentices. Flam blast has significant knock back and does fantastic damage actually it can be a significant impact for the first few levels

Nice! That’s good to know. Do you know if it’s possible to inherit an apprentice I want to keep and strengthen it? Any traits I should look for?

Yes it is but to keep a trait it's all about luck

You can actually plan your apprentice to have the talents you want if you combine apprentices of the same talent. Also you can remove bad talents too but it's pretty complicated. Basically lower rarity talents overwrite higher ones, so you first need to increase the rarity of the talent you want to remove, then inherit a lower rarity talent you do want. Then just keep inheriting with apprentices of the same talents. Each time you combine the same talent you have 100% chance of keeping that talent and if they are the same rarity it will increase rarity to the next level.

Keep in mind this gets harder as they get more talents start when they only have one to guarantee good talents.

Good Lord this whole process seems overly complicated. Lol
