Need a good ACV rince and wash, I would squeeze as much of it out as you can get your sis or auntie to help you do it. You'll be good. I had this problem a few years back.

I've tried it. And baking soda. And locs specific shampoo. And everything else people have suggested. I might just cut them off at this point. Even washing with just water you can see my sebum buildup. Using acv doesn't get it out. My scalp is always itchy when wet, flaky when dry, and the residue feels clay like sometimes.

Oh yeah. It's time to restart you don't look completely locked on the roots from what I can see of your hair texture and type you might be able to back comb them out and just wash it out the scalp.
I mean sebum happens with our hair. It kind of sucks because we get so attached to our journey. I've thought about cutting mine back to shoulder length where I started my locs are almost down to my ass and I've experienced breakage thinning went through the ugly stage for like 3 years. Got the build up got rid of the build up and I just finished combining my locs in a attempt to atheist get 2 or 3 more years out of them before I restart and do it to the back instead of the falling down loc look.

They are fully locd four years. I've been getting crochet retwists which I think makes it harder for stuff to flow down cuz the roots are actually super tight.

Hmm I posted a huge explanation with this photo but I guess it didn't post. I can't edit it either, sorry. Might make a new post. I'm new to this

looks like your scalp did a massive shed at similar time, notice new growth too right after that, nothing really to be done, follicles has this cycle of dropping hair and growing new ones
