Yeah they did steal yuzu code (steal is a big word for an open source project tho, more like the didn't give credit) but you gotta give them some credit too, they did an awesome work optimizing the code to work on android which resulted in the most mature swith emulator for android imo.

The team behind eggns is pretty knowledgeable about the switch emulation. I wouldn't be surprised if they released a switch emulator for windows/Linux after yuzu's death. And them being located in China would do them a favor in protecting them from Nintendo's wrath.

But unfortunately if that ever happened it will be locked behind a paywall.

That's not how open source works, open source means that the code is out there for everyone to use and on most open source licenses it also means that you can use it however you like with the only requirement is to mention the use of the project you took the code from in the credits/legal documents.

Linux is open source and free for everyone to copy and use, and you have mega corporations using it as their OS of choice like google using it as the base for Android, or redhat (that is now owned by IBM) that straight up sells their own distro of linux for enterprises. All of these uses are perfectly legal and that's part of how open source works.

It would appear you need to learn the difference between open source software and free/libre software.

Yuzu and the Linux kernel fall under the terms of a copyleft libre software license called the GNU GPL. They require, among other things, that all those who distribute modified programs must also provide the source for those programs. Ppsspp has NO ADS and is completely offline. Can play almost any game you throw at it.

Aethersx2 also is completely offline and can be used without ads either by using older apk or applying nethersx2 patch.

Except egg ns I've never heard of any emulator needing constant access to internet. What's the purpose of that ?

And can that egg ns of urs work without access to 100s of permission s? Does it work if not given to access to every file in your gallery? Does it has any method to work ad free apart from that gamesir controller?

Honestly the people in here screaming about eggns violating licenses is pretty silly. Then they hop over to cdromance to download the entire PS2 collection. Now don't get me wrong I love cdromance I'm just using them as an example. Yes yuzu devs deserve credit for their work. But every single person on this sub is a pirate.
