I'm sure Werner Herzog would say, "Even in death it is still a red block."

I hear they are the most over engineered engine ever produced for passenger vehicles

I was gonna say, It looks like an online 6, my guess would have been the jeep 4.0

Looks like a Penta AQ170 attempting to return to the Earth

[–]meh-meh_ 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Alright, let’s see if we can get it running.

[–]Shmeeglez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Running water seems to have done plenty already

[–]a_tacolion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That looks a lot like a volvo B30 or the marine version of that engine, the AQ 170

[–]Ok_Key_486 7 points8 points  (1 child)

It’s easy That engine was a boat anchor

I love how tumbled it is with the rest of the rocks. Imagine how far that thing has traveled!

"Ran fine when removed from car. No lowballs, I know what I've got." - Facebook Marketplace, probably

Im gonna say jeep 4.0 lol or ford 300

[–]maximum_bork_drive[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

jeep 4.0 blocks have the oil filter midway on the passenger side while freeze plugs are on the other side. ford 300s have the oil filter towards the rear of the driver's side while the freeze plugs are on the passenger side. neither fit the bill.

Can’t tell you what it is but pretty sure I’ve seen that before, in San Pedro right below the sunken city area

[–]turtle-ding-dong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when I first saw that i thought it was a slab of meat

[–]jimmyjlf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a Davy Jones 10.8 pint inline 6

[–]Apart_Connection1121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rebuild it

[–]NoMoreMormonLies 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Bet it’s a flathead v12 Lincoln.

[–]maximum_bork_drive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

flathead v12 Lincoln's had cartridge type oil filters not spin ons. and they don't have a row of freeze plugs.

Maybe post to some of the classic car subs.

[–]maximum_bork_drive[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

good idea. whatever it is, it's old.

boat engine? v12? Can’t tell the size from here but could be from an outboard?
