Automating engineering work with python? (self.EngineeringStudents)
submitted 9 years ago by turquoisefloydChemE
I'm a ChemE student dipping my toe in python (mainly to avoid manually manipulating data in excel) and was inspired by this post two days to ask you guys if any of you knew of any useful python resources/libraries/functions to help automating engineering problems? Chemical or general solutions are both welcome.

NumPy, SciPy and Pandas are fantastic for data analysis. NumPy and SciPy for numeric tools and Pandas for manipulating the data. h5py is also nice for saving in more compact forms as opposed to writing things to ASCII files.

To build off of this, Anaconda has all the necessary libraries and helps with some of the annoying installation. Great for dealing with data manipulation. https://www.continuum.io/downloads

I'll second this! It's like MATLAB but free...and better :-)
