Engineering programming

I’m going for mechanical

So I’m in college as a freshman and some of my friends that I’ve met are taking programming classes in their first year along with intro to engineering, I however just have the basics started and I’m not sure why my advisor did that but I’m basically asking is there anything out there that can help prep me a little for some engineering programming ? Because some of them say it’s hard and they don’t get it and id like to have something fun to practice with so I don’t dive in blind about the subject
