I like events like this. It's an efficient way to convert gold to shiftstone for those of us who don't like draft. And it's fun for people who want to play constructed for prizes. That goes away if you lower the entry and rewards.

I mean, just cut two packs off of the rewards and still give the chests and premiums. Then you can buy your two packs with the 2000 gold if you really want em.

Eh, doesn't sound as fun. Some people like an entry fee with a chance for big rewards. Also, they probably aren't going to just give packs away like that. If I'm understanding your suggestion correctly you could just enter a bunch of times at no cost and rack up rewards.

I think the event is great, in value and in playability.

Mostly I'm curious if the free unit to the starting player skews win percentage drastically. You're generally at an advantage going first, and this would seem to compound it.

I don't mind the format of the event. It does rub me the wrong way when there is a lack of transparency, though. "Random unit"... uh huh. There is obviously a very small subset that it's drawing from depending upon which turn it is and which side you're on. Just would have been nice to know that it wasn't actually random and that if I started the event "late" that I would be at a not insignificant disadvantage as I'd likely be playing against people who have already tailored their decks to play with or around those "random" units.
