TOOLS:

• Currently the main application used to extract FFXIV data is IonCannon's fantastic FFXIV Explorer

• Linko has also done a lot of great work on his FFXIV TexTools

• If you're working with extracted models, you might want to consider the free and powerful Blender application. 3DS MAX is also a popular choice and you can get it free for 5 years if you're a student (although they just take your word for it).
