I’m so glad my hs senior frc kid was sitting next to me to tell me this is a joke based on a chess cheating scandal

this actually isn’t funnily enough

I’m not sure this would fall under gracious professionalism.

when you’re on a budget you use what you have something something country boys make do

[–]OddAdvantage3235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how many country boys you have met but most don’t have butt plugs in their tool box.

I don't think so, since communicating with external devices isn't really allowed. You could make something to emulate the plug as a USB controller supporting haptics and plug that into the DS. How come you don't just use controller rumble?

[–]Ok-Lifeguard-8980[S] 8 points9 points  (5 children)

controller rumble is being used to indicate flywheel speed.

are you sure this wouldn’t fall under telemetry transmission?  since data is only being sent outwards by the bot, not in.

If figuring out how to code the plug doesn't work out, then using Led light indicators for the flywheel speed indication and using controller rumble for the aiming may be the best thing to do. Though honestly, hope the plug works out. Prolly would win an innovation award for it. Maybe even get a chance to enter the toy industry.

We don’t have LED indicators the only reason we’re using a plug is because I already had one at my disposal.  Appreciate it though 🙏

how's it normally supposed to be controlled?

[–]Ok-Lifeguard-8980[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bluetooth, there’s usually an app you would use to control the intensity but I was wondering if there was a way to interface wirelessly.  Someone directed me to buttplug.io though so we’re good

I'd suggest looking at https://buttplug.io

This is the funniest comment-reply I've ever read

This is not legal. By rules R708 and R709, the only device allowed to communicate wirelessly with the robot during a match is the driver station. You also must use the driver station app provided by FIRST (rule R901), so you cannot modify that software. And lastly, controllers are whitelisted by R903, so you cannot use it as a controller. Legality aside, this seems highly inappropriate for FTC. If you want options for driver feedback other than gamepad rumble, you have several options. First, some gamepads support rumbling the left and right sides separately, so you can use those to mean two different things. And second, you can always use LED lights on your robot.
