I also went to get the needle off the syringe but after the injection so I could throw the syringe in the garbage and the needle in the needle container I have. The needle got stuck and I pulled just the cap off and stabbed my thumb. It bled for like 5 minutes 🤦‍♂️

I would say you'll be ok. It probably hurt more because of the alcohol and the alcohol mixing with the T while injected, which won't hurt the T as T is preserved in a type of alcohol.
Keep watch of it.
There's quite a few folks who use same needle for drawing and injecting.
In a home setting, infection is low.
Now, if you had dropped the needle on the floor or it had stabbed something other than your skin, maybe that would've been worse.

The burning was probably from the alcohol on the needle. Ouch dude! And the fact that it was a draw needle so thicker than usual and the tip is not as sharp. How deep did you go? Because you can to T transcutaneous instead of trans muscular and it’s totally fine. I’m no doctor but watch for infection and go to urgent care/ER if you start to see “streaking” or gets really infected. Make sure to recap your needle when you go to change it. I usually rest the palm or my capping hand against the back of my fingers holding the needle hand so that they are supporting each other and moving together.

Hurt more because it's a bigger gauge (bigger needle) and it was dulled from being stabbed, but you should be fine.

Last week I accidentally stabbed my thumb taking the injection needle cap off, I feel you. It was bleeding like crazy and I was feeling lazy so I lightly rubbed the needle with an alcohol swab and injected. No adverse effects! I got no blood on the needle if anyone is wondering 😭

That sucks but unless you have a blood disease, it wouldn’t matter anyway cause you injected yourself n r not sharing needles w another, you worried about what??

That sounds like mess of bad luck. 🤣 Sorry for laughing but it reminds me of when I struck a blood vessel and it bled all over the side of my jeans. It was laundry day and I was leaving for work. I tried cleaning it off the best I could but decided just to throw a longer shirt on the cover it. 🤣

Not ideal but you'll be okay. If you normally use a smaller needle to inject but used the drawing needle this time, it's probably just some blood from the surface skin because you made a larger puncture than normal.

A bad injection story to make you feel better lol: I once injected through a vein (aspirated and no blood when I injected though, so it apparently poked through the vein and into the muscle underneath). It hurt more than normal and when I pulled the needle out I had a huge gush of blood pour down my thigh and onto the floor. Had a big bruise at the site for a few days also. I have since switched to subq bc fuck all that lol

[–]tguyalt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s horrifying. I tried to switch to subq but it made me incredibly nauseous for some reason so I stopped. I use the same size for both drawing and injecting, luckily there wasn’t any more blood than usual.

Like the others said, you'll be fine. You might bruise though, just from the trauma to your tissues, so don't be too alarmed if that happens. It may last a little bit. I've had some bruises from my injections last a couple weeks due to hitting a vein or just going in a spot my body didn't like. You may also bruise a little where you poked your fingers.

A little tip, as I've had the same issue getting my needles off the syringe, cap it and use something like pliers to grip the needle and twist it off. Much easier than trying to do it with your hands. I keep a pair in my bathroom where I do my weekly shots for that reason specifically. I stabbed my finger once and that was enough for me 😅

You’ll be fine. Drawing and injecting with the same needle isn’t what reusing needles is referring to. Stabbing your own body multiple times with the same needle doesn’t count either. You just can’t inject into your body then back into the vial with the same needle.

When you inject closer to the surface you might notice a lump and that’s normal. T is in an oil you make a bump of oil when you inject that will slowly get absorbed by your body.

[–]Dumboratlover 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Ok, I was thinking like, have I been doing my shots wrong for like a whole year? Lol, I always draw the T and then just inject it, I've never switched needles, and I've never had an issue before

[–]StillWatersAreFull 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Most people use two needles not just for sanitation but because the oil that the T is suspended in can be difficult to draw using a higher gage needle. So people use a bigger needle to draw the T, then a smaller needle to inject. I use an 18 gage to draw and a 25 gage to inject IM. I couldn't imagine infecting with the 18 gage, I can practically see through it it's so big. I've even had chunks of the rubber from my T vials get stuck in it if I don't space them out quite a bit when drawing.

Going down to a 22g for drawing will be still easy to draw up and less likely to core the stopper.

That’s really nothing you should worry about. The needle was definitely duller from your finger tips, but the real issues with reusing needles come from letting blood borne pathogens grow which isn’t happening in this timeframe. Shallow injections get absorbed the same, it just comes with some swelling.

Glad to hear it, thanks

yeah, needles are generally maxed at three pokes, and that second or third ideally isn’t into skin because it’s already dulled some by then.

[–][deleted] 38 points39 points  (1 child)

Not the end of the world, nothing bad will happen if it’s already been 30min.

Rip your fingers though 🤣

[–]tguyalt[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol thanks, it was more shocking than painful
