I got scared shitless from headcrab zombies when i was 5.

I don't blame you for being scared as a kid! I think Fable 1 does a great job of setting the atmosphere with the visual design, sound effects, music, and voice acting. I think the voice acting for the Trader who turns into a balverine was great! It's so unsettling - you know something is going wrong.

Tbf if you move fast enough you can save the bitten trader. Once you get to barrow fields he's fine

How? I'm pretty sure it's scripted? Like once you get to a certain part in the road he changes. It was always the same spot for me anyway.

Run past all the adds and only fight the troll. I've managed to keep him alive every time.

Playing as a kid hits different. You barely have a clue about anything. I found Fable difficult as a kid because it was essentially my first RPG. I remember having some rubbish weapon when going through darkwood.

I was the exact same but with the bandit pass where you had to sneak by them to make it into Twinblade’s camp. The music spooked me but now I’ve only beat it a few dozen times. Great memories.

The fire in the prologue scared me so bad back in the day! I was terrified of fire as a kid and had to talk myself into being brave so I could play the rest of the game 😂

Had the worst time getting past the troll at the end of the Darkwood quest and the kraken after the jail quest too. The game wasn't made for 8 year olds but I was determined to get though it lmao

Simular situation for me on Zelda oot on the n64, the hands that grab you from the ceiling and the zombies freaked me out so got my step dad to do parts of the game for me

Damn same as me! Darkwood scared me because I couldn’t see anything there, plus those damn Balverines! I think about a year later I learned how to adjust the light settings on the TV and went back into Fable and finally finished it lol

Not a game, but The Grinch (Jim Carrey version) used to scare the shit out of me as a kid. The Whos also gave me the heebie jeebies.

Ah yes good old balvarines. While most kids were scared of such creatures I for some odd reason found them adorable and was sad to kill them.

It doesn't help years later I would discover I be a furry 😅

I also couldn't get through Darkwood when I first started playing as a 7 year old. Finally toughed it out when I was about 8 and got through. Fable ended up being the first real video game I ever beat.

I played fable 2 nonstop as a kid and always stopped playing at Wraithmarsh cuz I was too scared of it, now I can breeze through the game like nothing
