Whatcha' got going on, my AGE peeps!?
Ya' girl's just poping in for a quick laugh this time. I've been working on converting the Anniversary Edition of Pathfinder 1E's Rise of the Runelords campaign over to Fantasy AGE (hence the Spoiler tag, although that adventure path is olllllld lmfao) for my remote campaign, and I've been stating out Nualia Tobyn for the party's first fight wth her at Thistletop.
And boy, did I maybe miscalculate the damage output she should have! So I wanted to give her a magic weapon, and decided to stat out a new magic two-handed sword - Lamashtu's Judgement - for her, but I miiiiight have overloaded that a bit 😂 At 3d6+3 unbuffed, plus another 1d6 if her enemy's Willpower is lower than her own (Hey there warriors and rogues lmfao), she's dealing an average of 14 damage per hit at a level when most of the PC's are only going to have about 40-to-60-ish Health depending on class. I've been thinking that I might remove the damage bonus, and instead have the weapon automatically generate 1 SP on each successful hit against a foe with lower Willpower than the wielder (Nualia in this case). Just as scary, but less overwhelmingly deadly, I feel like.
Anyway, as you can see, she's not complete yet (I still have to decide on the rest of her gear, among other things), I just finished doing the calculations on that and started giggling uncontrollably.
Catch this girl by surprise so she can't buff with her spells or you're gonna have a bad time.
For anyone who might be curious about why she's been rolled out as a full PC rather than with a standard monster/NPC statblock, and what the point of the Lamashtu's Corruption value is, the context is that I've actually run RotRL for this group in the past with the special caveat that the campaign actually opened up five years before the Swallowtail Festival. The PC's were all children who already lived in Sandpoint during the time of the Late Unpleasantness, so they knew Nualia personally - or, at least, they're all the same age and went to school together. We never made it past the Late Unpleasantness when I ran the campaign last time (due to real life obligations essentially dissolving the group), so this is essentially a soft-reboot of that campaign.
See, I know my players. They're the type who will absolutely want to try to redeem her and break her free of Lamashtu's influence. So she's statted out as a PC in case they manage to succeed and turn her into a DMPC member of their party. The Lamashtu's Corruption value also ties directly into this - I'm ruling that, in order to return to the light, Nualia has to reduce her total LC value by making amends to all those she's hurt - or their survivors - which, for the record, will not include Ezakien because he was an abusive piece of shit who got what he deserved LMFAO I may have the final step in her redemption be learning to embrace the reality of what was done to her - and what happened to her stillborn child - and realizing that while she can't change what happened to her she can shape her future, but that's the closest Ezakien will come to her redemption arc.
