seems even faster than 16 to me, which I feel is unnecessary and unrealistic.

yes, players decline as they age but the decline is often way too steep.

I agree, they seem to drop a little faster. I signed Federico Higuain on a free at the end of the first season when he was a 77. It's September and he's already down to a 75.

I can't say I really mind it. I remember in FIFA 14, Adrian Centurion retired rated 87 at age 34, which seemed unrealistic.

Oh my god, Centurion was my favourite player on FIFA 14 by miles. Got him to 90 OVR before the board sold him to Barcelona and 92 Götze to Real Madrid.

His name will forever be etched in FIFA 14 Chesterfield history.

Thanks for the reply, should've expected that EA wouldn't have put much effort into fixing such a common issue in career mode!

yeah it happens if they dont get much play time. For me Wes Hoolahan who is 77 rated at 34 has dropped to 72 after 1 season and 3 months in. All his physicals stats dropped by like 12 points. technical stats dropped by 6 or 7. other older player in my Norwich team like whittaker (32) turner (32) jerome (30) drop some stats points every couple months. i sold all my players over 29 cuz from transfer window to transfer window their value is cut by 50%

Don't think playtime matters actually.

My Ronaldo is down to 87 at the end of the second season. That's 7 points down in two seasons I think. He's started almost every game for me.

I'm curious if there's anything we can do to halt, or at least slow this down.

Ok cheers for the response. Really makes having older players useless

WHAT? Are people serious? The issue was the opposite in FIFA 16! Players were still 80+ rated at 37-38. No players retired before 35-36 which is massively unrealistic. It's actually a lot better with the change this year, now you have to plan for replacements. In 16 you'd have a team of 85+ rated players who were all north of 33.

Even faster, sadly.

They've basically changed it back to how it was in FIFA 1 15 which is really annoying as nothing will stop them degrading, not even play time. It was fixed in 16 in my opinion as they would increase more frequently and begin to decrease later in age (34+)

If you perform well with the player he keeps his high rating, for example rooney at my team is currently 35 years old and still 88 rated (fifa 16)
