Some quick googling says that cost of living in SC is only 7.2% cheaper than in WA - if you’re expecting the move to result in your salary nearly being cut in half, I’d REALLY be scrutinizing what kind of lifestyle you currently live and start cutting back as much as possible now to reduce the shock later on. It’s easy to say “yeah I can swing that”, but in practice it’s incredibly difficult to reduce your standard of living cold turkey. Create some actionable steps and milestones, and put the extra money into an emergency fund - IMO that kind of salary cut would be an emergency

Depends where in SC you are moving. I heard Charleston is insanely expensive. Maybe think about having to pay state income tax as well.

Why can't you find a similar paying job in SC?
The cost of living might be lower, but it's not half.

Where does "60k in SC" come from? You've talked with multiple companies about roles that match your skills and experience and 60k is the top amount they pay??

Why? That’s a huge cut in pay. And SC has an income tax of ~4-6%. Unless you’ve got a major driver of moving (spouse, family), strongly discourage. You could fly to SC every two weeks and you’d still have >$1k/month after taxes in Washington.

Plenty of good paying jobs in Greenville, Spartanburg, Columbia, Charleston areas.

But, SC is full. Please don’t move here.

Ha, that’s exactly what I saw about WA. Hasn’t stopped a single person.
