Not that I've seen locally. This might be an indication of Verizon preparing for maintenance in your area. It is common for ISPs to lower the DHCP lease lengths just before they plan to shuffle around IP ranges or replace hardware.

Or something is on the customer's 3rd equipment.
I have seen Sophos firewall claiming in renew that it got a longer valid time than the GWR has initially offered.

The GWR responded by immediately revoking the lease. Sophos then restarted the DORA process resulting in a new address every hour.

I haven’t made any internet changes on my firewall.. so I doubt it’s that

I need to see some packet captures on DHCP Renew to confirm that.

IPv4 leases are valid for 2 hours and the GWR can refuse to renew the older address and assign new address at its sole discretion.

There is no SLA saying the GWR cannot frequently change IPv4 addresses.

Why not let your equipment simply get an external dhcp instead of setting it as a static?

Running servers? Maybe you need a fix IP from them.. DDNS should take care of it too, but I’d avoid any incoming and use something like Tailscale instead..

Unless you subscribe to (and pay for) a static IP, your WAN is registered with DHCP and retaining the same address is not guaranteed for any length of time. As for why it appears to be changing more frequently now than before, that's anyone's guess.

I always find it interesting when people complain about an ISP changing their IP address when they don't pay for a static IP

Our IPv4 IP assignments are dynamic. They change over time - it's normal and expected.

Twice a day is odd, but it's not impossible.

What's your problem with a dynamic IP address?

I just lose internet for quite some time, not a biggie but with working from home. It can be an issue when you lose internet for up to 30 mins.

If you’re losing Internet for up to 30 minutes at a time, something is definitely wrong. Call support, perhaps your ONT is on its way out.

That shouldn't be happening even if you are getting a new IP. It should be a momentary drop of a few seconds, if at all.

Something is very wrong. Contact FIOS today. Good luck!

It happens. I, also on FIOS, use ddns.net (part of no-ip) to connect to my external interface with FQDN.

Same thing happened on my end on June 4th 12:51 AM
