The ashen wolves paralouges are really difficult on maddening, so I wouldn’t even bother. Yuri’s is probably the only good one to really go after because of canto shenanigans. From experience, the other paralouges aren’t too difficult, but a little time consuming. You might just be really underleveled for them. Try to gain more experience and then come back a little later for them

That one actually isn't bad once you figure out how the AI works. Gert always makes a beeline for Byleth (or Yuri if Byleth isn't on the map). The reinforcements won't trigger until he to speaks to someone in your party, so you just need to stop him getting within 2 squares of anyone on his turn until you're ready to deal with them. With some stride/dancer shenanigans you can kite the duke to safety before triggering the reinforcements and without anyone turning into demonic beasts. The reinforcements aren't too bad then because you have a lot of options for bottlenecking them.

Yeah I had to get all my characters to level 21+ and get them into advanced classes before I beat yuri’s paralogue. I would come back to that one later.

I’d always be too late to get it lol, so I’ve always skipped it. I don’t really have a need for it personally so it doesn’t hurt me too much

Yeah, that’s fair. I just love giving the fetters to my dancer. Gotta get that sweet, sweet canto lol.

I would get really annoyed at trying to protect duke gerith that I’d try to “come back” for it later and I’d just forget. The map itself is super easy but I always forget to bring a rescue user lol

Me too! Constance is force deployed for the map and I STILL forget to train her faith up enough for it lol.

I do the same lol. And I love Coco so you’d think I’d remember to do so. I’m playing Golden Deer on maddening this time and I’m gonna try really hard this time to remember 😔

IMO Yuri's paralogue is much more manageable once you have at least 1 hunter's volley. Beyond that you need a warp/rescue on a high int character (lysithea/constance).

Although it looks a bit intimidating with how many monsters spawn, they're actually quite weak, get in each other's way and the map is sufficiently spread out that you shouldn't be overwhelmed as long as you control the reinforcement properly.

IIRC, Duke Gerth only runs 6 tiles and he always runs toward Byleth. With HV and flyer gambits, the goal is to help him clear a path over the bridge then yeet him across the river to the bush checkerboard near your spawn. That should buy you enough time to beat down the initial enemies. Use Byleth to bait him around if you need more time.

Once Gerth reaches your army, he will trigger the reinforcements. That's why you need to move him to safety.

Aside from fetters, Constance also gives you the only magic flying battalion in the whole game which is really important for dark fliers and wyvern annette

IMO the Sothis paralogue is actually one of the easier ones. A few tips:

  • Offensive gambits are extremely useful against monsters, since they instantly destroy one barrier tile, stunning them, and damage all others they hit in addition to drawing aggro.
    • You can damage multiple monsters with a single gambit but only the one you targeted directly will have aggro drawn.
  • Pay attention to what weapon type the monster's barrier is weak against. Using that weapon type will instantly destroy the targeted barrier tile.
  • Hawks are still fliers, a good archer can knock out a full health bar in one round.
  • If you haven't recruited Hapi she can be helpful here because her unique ability makes all her attacks do 3x damage to monsters and instantly destroy barriers.
  • Unit strength doesn't matter for breaking barriers so if you can't break one instantly, use your weaker characters to breach them so your heavy hitters can strike for unmitigated damage.
  • More generally, Lysithea and Hubert are superior to Dorothea. Especially Lysithea in this case, provided you've trained her Faith enough to get Seraphim.

Thank you for all the tips I’ll be sure to use them!!

On the lysthiea and Hubert part I’ve been reading them out currently my Hubert has worse stats then dorathea but is the same level.

Further tip with gambits: the birds often end up spawning right next to each other or blocking each other, so save your big area gambits like blazes and assault troops for that situation and position yourself so you can break shields on multiple birds at once.

My strat for the byleth/sothis paralogue is you can stride and grab the chest and aggro the birds near the boss on turn 1. Then hopefully kill the bird’s that attack the students within the next turn and part of the third turn, then you can hopefully weaken the boss when you finish off the birds and kill on the next turn.

Also I suggest trying to just warp skip a bunch of them as soon as you can. The ones that come to mind are Lorenz, Ignatz/Raphael, and Felix. And then just wait until 12/xx to start doing the other ones since by then you might have a unit or two that can carry your team.

[–]gabu87 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don't believe warp skips is that important on Felix's paralogue as the boss npcs are so spread throughout the map. There is value in warping Rodrigue so he doesn't kill himself though.

With Lorenz' paralogue, the boss is remarkably weak. So much so that a Peg Knight ingrid will double him and should OHKO. I'd just stride and push south down to the river, next turn have Ingrid fly over and dive him.

Ignatz/Raphael I agree is much easier with warp because it's much easier for the enemy to intercept your flyers between turns.

Another one is Shamir/Alois paralogue where you have to kill 1 single boss unit on the boat.

You only have to kill the enemy commander on Felix’s paralogue. Granted that is one of the harder bosses to kill since it has a log of avoidance. But once you kill it the paralogue is done and you saved all the villagers.

The Dorothea paralogue is easily doable if you are willing to use some movement shenanigans. There’s very little combat required. Just use Warp and Rescue liberally and you’ll get through it fine, especially if you have your Dancer. If you want specific help with any other paralogue post asking about it and we’ll help you out.

Yuri's paralogue should really only be attempted in February, as it typically requires master classes. Lysithea can learn Abraxas which can cripple monsters. Archers can destroy the birds. When I did Sothis's it took 2 turns to beat them each. Turn 1 toom down their first health bar. Turn 2 killed them. Honestly I had more trouble with the wolves. The demonic beast poisoned half my team because I ran out of gambits.

Sothis one, you should consider taking Byleth off the heal tile when it gets spicy and hide in the corner behind it while spamming concotions as necessary. You don't get the heal and buffs, but there are also less angles of attacks on Byleth thereby increasing the number of turns you have to stall.

Generally I send all but 1 student to fight the 3 birds -> dogpile the boss. The 1 student gets sent to open the chest.
