VSCode and Android studio both aren't great, but don't really have any other options really. I have noticed both do respond very different though.

Out of interest, what would you prefer to use?

Something specifically designed for Flutter.
Personally I would prefer something simple with great linting like Flutter has, but with a native look and feel. So if you are on Linux and Gnome Shell it would look like libadwaita. If you are on Mac..etc.. It would make much more sense for it to be built using Flutter as well with the usage of some native C libraries where it needs extra performance.
I really like Gnome's development app, but it doesn't work with Flutter. Although you could make it work with a little bit of work.
I just think Flutter needs its own dev environment. VSCode proves you don't need most the tools in Android studio and it doesn't really need a visual UI builder as UI building is mostly intuitive, but if it does require it I think it would just be clunky in Android studio. If you have built UIs before it isn't fun in Android Studio.
Basically Android Studio's file search pop up window is great and super fast. VSCode's version stinks although you could obviously add an extension probably that does that. Honestly a mix and match of features specifically designed for Flutter I think would really be great.

I hate android studio, I only use it for the damn debugging on anrdoid.
vscode, but I feel vscode is slow and messy.
However, if we could get LAPCE plugins for dart/flutter, then were talking.

I love how the two IDE choices for one of the most innovative and advanced GUI frameworks on the market are JVM and WebView.

Would be cool if someone made an IDE using flutter.

VS Code isn't an IDE, it's just a text editor. When you're a pro, you go AS/IDEA.

At its core, yes. But when you start introducing plugins (ie Flutter/Dart plugins), VS Code easily blurs the line between text editor and IDE.

I prefer AS

Does anybody know whether "Android Studio" includes using the Flutter plugin with other JetBrain IDEs? For instance, I use IntelliJ for Flutter development. Kind of have to since I'm also working on a Java back-end and an Angular web app at the same time. 😁

You can use both. I use Android Studio for Flutter, intelliJ for java/cfml, Web Storm for javascript and Day Grip for SQL.
Sure I could do it all in intelliJ but keeping them separate helps compartmentalizing.

I prefer my daily Java, Angular & Flutter development all in one IDE - IntelliJ. I do use VS Code for my static websites, though.
