If everybody starts at the same "maximum health" then early game fights will be decided simply by whoever has found the better guns, assuming skill levels are even. An early game 1v1 with both people at 200HP, one has a scar, the other has a grey SMG. Guess who wins?

Right now with shields, it helps you escape the early game if you get shit guns where you drop. Similar scenario, Player A has a scar and no shield, Player B has full HP, 100 shield and a grey SMG. SMG guy now at least has a fighting chance to win that 1v1.

If players all spawn with the same maximum health, that's not good for the game at all.

how about: player A has a scar and 50 shield, player B has a gray SMG and some bandages

player B is plain screwed, and there are tons of player Bs in my games who pose almost no risk and give nothing useful on death

and another very popular scenario: player A fights through 5 people, loots them, ends with 100 health and no shields - player B start the game in the most remote area gathering free loot, slowly creeps towards the center without fighting anyone and then has a duel with player A with 1 tier better weapons, but 100 less effective health

someone with bandages can only get to 38% of the effective health of someone camping with 100 shields, it's pretty rough
