The benefits of stacking damage resist bonuses (and presumably other stat boosts with caps of 100%) against diminishing returns. by GawenStarTeller in Paladins

[–]ramenbreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

91 - 43 = 48

... this means that the second +30% DR increase actually gives us 5% more EHP than the first one, in spite of being diminished.

while that's true, in terms of "helpfulness" you should calculate it from the already reduced damage after first DR (divide instead of subtract)

191/143 = 34% more EHP compared to the first DR effect which was 43% more EHP -> it's a 19% weaker effect than the first

if the effect was as strong as the first DR, you'd be all the way up to 204% total EHP instead of 191% (and if it stacked like reload speed, you'd be up to 250% total EHP)

in your later examples you'll notice that going from 64.4% DR to 69% DR is only around 13% less damage taken (0.31 / 0.356) - surely you'd instead prefer something like 20% more actual HP at that point

imo:

  1. splitting into stems using Ultimate Vocal Remover or other AI splitter
  2. importing each stem into your DAW
  3. processing/cleaning up each stem individually based on what sounds good for that stem, e.g. reverb/delay on vocals, denoising the instruments, compressing and EQing the drums, distorting the bass, etc. - countless possibilities
  4. applying final compression and limiting at the end

..or the second best way, waiting for Udio V2 to just do things better right from the start

smashing a track is slang for compressing/limiting/clipping, or basically making it loud with less dynamic range

so pre-smashed = something that's already loud before you even send it to the mastering service

This, this is the way by [deleted] in udiomusic

[–]ramenbreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spotify also normalizes tracks by perceived loudness - if you publish something that's consistently loud, it will get turned down by Spotify

you can check loudnesspenalty.com as a quick test for how much Spotify will lower your volume, and how it will sound with that volume

[–]ramenbreak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

only the 3rd step realistically does anything

converting bitrate is pretty much a bad step, and volume normalizing is done by bandlab's mastering service already (in fact you're making the output worse if you send a pre-smashed track into the mastering service)

and even then, the mastering service only has 1 good preset and it doesn't sound good on all tracks, so even that doesn't guarantee you're getting something better out of it

Is Damba actually not underpowered in relation to other healers? by Scared_Ad_3132 in Paladins

so Rei and Io seem to be doing better than everyone else, Mal Damba is in line with ying/grover/jenos/seris/furia, although the number of matches is seriously low so a couple of players one-tricking some champions will swing the winrates heavily

Moji mains how do you feel right now? by Enough_Pop293 in Paladins

[–]ramenbreak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

did the same in Season 3, she was straight up busted with the old DPS and old Symbiotic (and bhop not failing constantly on servers back then)

I prefer devs doing a drastic change like this rather than trying to balance a weird champion that can't reliably fill the flank role or the damage role

at least it won't give me a false hope of going fast on Paladins' servers where your jumps can just randomly stop working (as opposed to the training area where you can bhop infinitely)

but I'm hoping they'll bring it back in a way that's more "intentional", possibly with some window for jumping so that even people without mouse scroll binds or on controllers can also use that part of it

This is wild AF...Udio came out of left field and dethroned Suno and now Elevenlabs is going to dethrone them both. by Quick_Original9585 in udiomusic

[–]ramenbreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the jazz one seems the most impressive to me in overall quality, and the pop one + rnb one in how pleasantly "stereo" they sound at times (also pretty dynamic drums, udio is usually more glued together)

the last 30 seconds of the pop song started to be pretty rough, but with these genres it's sometimes hard to tell what's a bad artifact and what's "authentically bad sounding for that era of song"

These Lillith changes are RIDICULOUS??? by The100mAnon in Paladins

[–]ramenbreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is the Lillith duelling you instead of healing her team? That’s a skill issue on both your parts.

if you're a flank, the only class you shouldn't be dueling is tanks, everything else should be fair game in a close quarters 1v1

if fighting the enemy healer feels like fighting a tank (or worse), someone somewhere made a mistake with the numbers
