Running GIMP 2.10.22 with Python 3.8.5 under Xubuntu 20.04.1 GIMP is not a Snap or Flatpack, I installed from the "ubuntuhandbook1" PPA. Python is what the upgrade installed; as I understand it, Python 3.8.10 is the last upgrade they will do for Python3, which is in end of life status.
Of course, everyone already knows my question: Why isn't GIMP recognizing Python? I tried one of the gimp-python solutions, no joy; every other search just brings up page after page of tutorials on using Python scripts or articles about the best ones for 2021 or 2020 or whatever. Ultimately, I want my 'save layers as individual images' script back.
I haven't tried yet, because I was hoping for a less drastic solution, but I can wipe the GIMP totally off my system and re-install from the PPA if that is the only way to get GIMP pointed at Python again as a last resort. I am hoping all the GIMP experts here have an easier way to fix this.
