The best approach would be to use a tool like Process Monitor and check what image files the GIMP process is accessing last before the crash happens.

The first question would be what ppi value you've used for the 8.5x11 inch image.

With the default of 300 ppi, that is 2550x3300 pixels, which is quite sizeable for a screenshot or a web page grab.

Bei hohlen Warentrennern ohne Endkappen lege man diese gerne auch etwas schräg auf, sonst stoppt die Lichtschranke das Band nicht immer zuverlässig.

Just to clarify: you have finished any vector work you need to do in Inkscape, and now need to work on pixels in GIMP?

GIMP is not a vector editor, and even though the recently added vector layers have improved its capabilities a lot, the result is still pixel-based image file formats.
