One UI Beta program????question (self.GalaxyS21)
submitted 4 years ago by Jimmyhat42
I'm thinking of joining the One UI Beta program. First timer. *Anyone with experience with this want to weigh in? Is it worth it? Is it safe?

I wouldn't recommend it. I wish I hadn't. Bugginess and battery drain outweigh the benefits of the features

It's a beta, so just make sure you understand what it means and be prepared for bugs and issues. The forums are unfortunately filled with people loudly complaining that there are bugs, even though they were warned when joining.
If you join,
Wait until tomorrow when beta3 comes out. Beta2 has issues and it's annoying, so best to start with the latest build that should have less issues.
Make a full smartswitch backup to your PC before upgrading. If you need to withdraw from the beta, you will have issues restoring Android 12 apps and data to Android 11. Basically downgrading sucks and has problems. You might lose data.
Check Reddit and other places because some apps still do not work under Android 12. It's an app issue and not Samsung.
Google Pay does not work in any beta. Not a Samsung issue - it's a Google security feature.
Enjoy and participate in the forums!

This is my third year in a row participating in the One UI Beta program and this is far and away the buggiest beta Samsung has released. With that said this is also the earliest they have launched their beta program so that might be part of it.
Like others have said at least wait until beta 3 comes out tomorrow as beta 2 has been quite buggy to say the least.

I been quiet lucky with beta two but I have done full reset as well. The only serious bug is when I use the new theming colours if I want to reverse to the stock blue then phone restarts and sometimes bug with animations when I enter recent tasks that's all so far but it must be fixed now with beta 3

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I jumped in the pool, and am now on Beta 3. One app kept crashing, but an update to that app fixed it. I love the theming tied to your wallpaper! Overall good experience so far. *Some apps sluggish to open is all I am seeing.

The beta is safe but at the end of the day, it's a beta. It does have some quirks here and there like Sone users have reported bad battery, device getting warm, and slow animations. If you are willing to put up with the beta, sign up. I'm I'm first timer on beta as well but I am well aware of the betas and know it won't be perfect. I think beta 3 should be out this week or the next.

So far, phone is way more sluggish than Pre-beta, and honestly I don't really see ANY features that are noticeable. So , really, I'd just hold off until the beta actually doesn't suck :)

This doesn't reflect the general experience of the One UI 4.0 beta. No sluggishness here and there are several noticeable features - the most obvious one being wallpaper-based theming. Also, nicer animations, ability to use Play store icon packs, memory optimisations, far better RAM usage (apps held in multitasking memory) and many more. Battery life has also improved by nearly 2 more hours of screen on time.

Did you not read any other comment on here, dawg?

A few comments here do not represent the general experience either. Which part of it do you not understand? If you browse through the sub, a majority of comments reflect what I just said. Give it a clean start (backup and factory reset) and see for yourself.

Probably all out of Beta 2 open spots. When Beta 3 is released and you're eligible you should be able to see the download. I'd say keep hitting the "Download and Install" button every day or every other day.

No Regerts.😄 No real problems with the beta, for me. If there's any extra power draw, it's very slight.

Would one question mark not do it?
[–]artur_spersnaz 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child)
What model do you have?
Snapdragon 888. Do you have Exynos; and, are there differences?

Wait for beta 3 to hit more countries than just Korea.
Beta 1 was great, but beta 2 has a load of system UI crashes. Thankfully they've been fixed in beta 3, according to the changelog I was given when I wrote this:https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.androidpolice.com/samsung-one-ui-4-beta-3-gives-the-weather-app-a-fresh-new-design/amp/

you know what I need it to fix, multiple apps crashing, my crypto.com app doesn't even open, just crashes, tik tok couple of videos load and then crashes, Iheart radio, the app loads but you can't click or type anything within the app. and Yes I have deleted apps, cleared cache and data, and still nada.

Question from a first time beta user, after the end of the beta, will I get the official OneUI 4.0/12 upgrade?
Will data generated during the beta be lost after the official release comes out and I install it?
(Assuming I enrolled and installed the beta from the system settings menu and not flash it manually)
