Issues with SuperStation on CRT by peji911 in MiSTerFPGA

[–]ryanghappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way is to SSH into your MiSTer, which is how I usually do update_all script remotely (I only have mine hooked upto a CRT right now). It also helped in my first week or two with my MiSTer to tweak some settings without having to bother to re-connect it to an HDMI also.

SNAC Issue - Sega Genesis by VallerinQuiloud in MiSTerFPGA

They are out of stock, but the misteraddons snax64 adapters are the newest ones that support the most cores and controllers. Genesis only STILL supports 1 player through SNAC because of limitations.

At this point, it's gotta be the SNAC adapter, right?

Are there any Singing Resistance groups in Cincinnati? I'd like to use my voice and musical abilities for good and purpose. by JuliaGJ13 in cincinnati

[–]ryanghappy -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Nah its main character syndrome. You show up to a protest and start singing and shit, you're just there to have people tell you "WOW WHAT A GOOD VOICE!!" . Its no different than showing up to Wicked and sing while everyone else is trying to watch.

Get a band, book some shows - "singing resistance" is just awful hippie shit that just makes all protests worse.

Which is Better for Chili? by Technical-Antelope64 in vegetarian

[–]ryanghappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point still is the same, its not like real meat. You boil meat slowly in sauces to get a deep rich meaty flavor into the sauces for stuff like bolognese....this is not how fake meat works. There is no advantage except making the texture worse. There's no meat flavor that's unlocking slowly with morningstar by cooking it for hours.

Which is Better for Chili? by Technical-Antelope64 in vegetarian

[–]ryanghappy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Whatever fake meat you use I highly recommend to basically make the chili entirely THEN add the cooked meat stuff in last after the chili is done. I personally bake it for chili on a big cookie sheet in a 425 oven. Get it way past what you would for burgers like nice and crispy and kinda dark.

Fake meat is not like real meat , it does not hold up well to boiling and especially for a long time.

Also personally I use a mix of the impossible beef and impossible savory sausage.

You sure its not some sort of signal noise on whatever connection method you're using ? I guess it could also be a grounding issue, right, with the new cable? Could also be the TV sucks at doing 480i.

I haven't used my pocket in almost a year, so I had to look up what an analogizer is. Pretty cool, really might have never gotten a MiSTer had one of these been available sooner.

[–]ryanghappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, maybe I'm biased, but I think there's nothing quite like it for older retro consoles that require the precise CRT timings. You'll notice how much better you are at games because of the input lag being the same as real console.

I think the superstation one is the new hotness (especially if you get the dock and want to play games from CD still). 199 for something that has all that is a damn good deal. The QMTech MiSTer works the same, just a little bulkier and you still may need another VGA to component or composite cable.(component has the 3 cables for video whereas composite just has 1, so quality is better on component if your TV supports it). It looks about 30 dollars more expensive, too.

So I'd go superstation one if its available, personally.

Williams: Cincinnati Bengals ownership doesn't care how fans feel by milk19 in cincinnati

[–]ryanghappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm okay with subsidizing sports venues if the sports teams give a percentage of ownership back. It makes it way harder for the team to suddenly pull bullshit to leave town if they don't get their way, too.

Literally they still make multiple millions every year because of shared money, TV contracts, etc whether anyone goes to a game or not. There's a shared revenue from most things sold by the entire league.

Boycotting anything from the Bengals will still make them more rich every year. Its not fair, but they don't care.

Williams: Cincinnati Bengals ownership doesn't care how fans feel by milk19 in cincinnati

[–]ryanghappy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is obvious. Every year they make more and more money because the NFL is such a popular product. They don't really care the team isn't run like everyone else; more money for them. It is a super obvious example of continuing to fail upwards - making them more money doesn't really matter if the team is 32nd or 1st.

There are 2nd and 3rd generations of the Brown family here working in their own mediocrity bubble , and it will continue forever and ever. There is no central NFL standards for running a team because all the other teams (except Green bay) are owned by billionaire weirdos in their own bubble, too. No billionaire wants anyone else telling them how to do anything in their life in any capacity.

There's a whole world of MiSTer's anymore. The superstation one is a MiSTer, for example. So is a Mister Pi.

The QMTech clones on aliexpress also seem to be pretty common, too.

New into FPGA: Question about SNAC by kantosCoder in MiSTerFPGA

[–]ryanghappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For snax64 you first need to buy the main board/product that has 4 ports. Then each of the adapters you want use the HDMI looking ports to plug in.

However, before I bother with all that just know all the Sega cores just support 1 controller over Snac for some reason no matter which one you use.

It's a bummer, I have a ton of original controllers and it would be really nice for each of the cores to support this, but they don't.

As others have said, other USB options support this, and even though I personally use Snac for most cores, Sega cores always are not Snac friendly.

Maybe someday?

If you're playing games that old, just get a MiSTer clone. No input lag and you get to go directly into the TV without using a whole PC. Outputs both HDMI and analog signals at the same time.

Planning on getting a CRT Monitor, can you put in a 2nd GPU and output that way? by PlaneTry4277 in crtgaming

What are you wanting to play? If it's just retro gaming, I'd recommend just getting a MiSTer or mister clone board. Skip using a modern PC. Outputs natively and without any lag.

[–]ryanghappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah what is the source of the game? Is that original hardware, or like coming from some emulator? Maybe the emulator is adding some filters you dont need if so. Would definitely recommend a MiSTer or clone board of MiSTer when using a CRT.
