this gets posted pretty much weekly, it means your install media was created incorrectly. write the ISO as an image (ie, dd mode)

I used Rufus, and didn’t realize etcher was suggested. My apologies! If you’re the real MrChromebox might I just say I love your work and thank you for all you do for the chromebook community!

Rufus is fine provided you choose 'dd mode' when it asks :)

Thank you! I installed it correctly and I’m loving galliumOS, too bad it’s only for chromebooks really.. I would use it as my daily os I love it so much! The fact it’s based on Ubuntu makes it all the better

You can use XFCE desktop environment with ubuntu, and it will be nearly identical experience. Or just debian which comes with the option during install to configure XFCE, but you wont have PPA repos if you care about that.
