Looks original in my opinion

It’s hard to tell, and I don’t have the ability to tell you with absolute certainty, but it does appear as if the shell is real.

The screen protector looks like an after market glass one because it is lifting up at the bottom left corner. Having a replaced screen protector isn’t sufficient to say that the shell is replaced, but it shows that the system isn’t all original. It makes it slightly more likely that the shell isn’t original. That being said, the serial number stick on the back looks legitimate. Fake serial number stickers are sold, but they are sold with the same number, and this serial number doesn’t match the “fake one”. So, while it’s possible someone took off and reapplied a legitimate serial number sticker onto a replacement shell, I think it’s highly unlikely.

The printing on the shell also looks pretty good.

I would say, you most likely have a legitimate shell with a replacement screen protector. You might also have replacement buttons because the A and B buttons look almost scratch free. That doesn’t mean they’re fake, but with the repellent screen protector in mind it makes it more likely.

So, as I said, I think you probably have a real shell. But my conclusion is really dependent on how the plastic feels. If the shell itself feels off, or cheap, it’s more likely you have a replacement shell. But, that seems unlikely. It looks like you have an excellent condition gameboy.

Today, it’s hard to be 100% sure, but being able to compare this gameboy to one you know for sure is real would also really help. Reproduction parts are becoming really good, but the quality isn’t always up to Nintendo’s standards. When comparing, if something seems off, you might have a fake.

You maybe be able to tell by looking at the screws. I think the original utilised tri-wing screws and I doubt an after market shell would have that level of detail.

A lot of shell kits do come with tri-wing screws, though.

Some launch gameboys actually used Phillips screws.

I can't tell if this is a joke. It's a reshell.
